But I have noticed that every time I drive home from work, the headlights are on. It is 4pm on a bright and sunny day. So why are my headlights on?

I'm not saying that's not possible in some cases, but I was standing in front of the car after it was towed to the dealer and the headlights were on and fine. To make sure swap the two lights if the same happens then you can be sure it is the bulb you need to replace. If not then inspect the wiring and the socket itself for burns or loose connections.
